Castle Pines and Castle Rock Window Treatments: Plantation Shutters, Tall Windows, and Pine View Estates
From The Village at Castle Pines to the new estates in Castle Rock, our most-requested combination is wide-louver plantation shutters on the great-room arches with motorized shades on the lower walkout windows. Here is what we are installing.

Castle Pines and Castle Rock are estate-home country. Two-story great rooms with arched transoms, walkout basements that face the ponderosa pines, and primary suites with mountain views to the west. The window treatments here have to look as substantial as the architecture without making the rooms feel dark. Here is how we approach Castle Pines and Castle Rock projects in 2026.
1. Wide-Louver Plantation Shutters on the Great-Room Arches
The single most-requested treatment in The Village at Castle Pines, Castle Pines Village, and the Keene Ranch side of Castle Rock is a custom plantation shutter with 4.5-inch louvers and a hidden tilt rod. Wider louvers read more architectural, let more light through when open, and pair correctly with the scale of an 18-foot great-room wall. We custom-build the arched and eyebrow tops to match the window so you do not see a square shutter inside a curved frame.
2. Motorized Shades on the Walkout Windows
Most Castle Pines homes have a walkout level that opens to pines or a golf course. Those lower windows need a screen shade with a clean reveal so you do not block the view from the dinner table. We install Hunter Douglas Designer Roller shades on PowerView motors, recessed into the window frame so the headrail vanishes when the shade is up.
3. Layered Drapery for the Formal Dining and Primary Suite
Castle Pines clients are still investing in formal dining rooms, and the right drapery makes that room feel like it earned the address. We specify lined ripple-fold drapery in performance velvet or heavy linen, on a recessed ceiling track that lets the panels stack out of the window. The primary suite gets a separate blackout liner so the morning sun does not wake you at 5:30 in June.
4. Custom Shutters for the Primary Bath and Powder
The primary bath in a Castle Rock estate is usually the most photographed room in the house. We install full-height plantation shutters with a moisture-rated finish in the wet zones and pair them with a half-height cafe shutter on the powder room window for privacy without losing daylight.
5. Whole-Home Smart Control That Matches the Build Quality
Most new Castle Pines and Castle Rock builds are Control4 or Savant. We program scenes so the great-room shades close at sunset to protect the art and rugs, the primary suite goes to blackout at bedtime, and the whole home opens to a wake scene in the morning. No tablets in every room, no extra keypads. It runs on the system you already have.
6. The Castle Pines Window Treatment Mistake We Fix Most
Standard 3.5-inch shutters on a great-room arch. They look like they shrank inside the opening. We rebuild those installs in 4.5-inch louvers, scale-matched to the architecture, and the room reads correctly for the first time. If you have shutters that feel small for the room, the proportions are usually the reason.
