Craftsmanship That Sets Them Apart

Our commitment to superior craftsmanship sets us apart from the crowd. Each roman shade is meticulously handcrafted in our Colorado drapery workroom, ensuring that every detail is attended to with precision. From measurement to production to installation, we guarantee that your custom roman shades will be perfectly fitted and masterfully constructed.

Discover Four Distinct Roman Shade Styles

Roman shades come in four basic styles: flat, slatted, soft fold, and relaxed. From the crisp and clean lines of flat roman shades to the soft, romantic gathers of a relaxed roman shade, each accomplishes a specific look. Blinds Couture recognizes that not all roman shades are created equal.

  • Flat Roman Shades: Embrace a contemporary aesthetic with clean and crisp lines. These shades fold neatly when open, offering not only a modern look but also practical benefits such as light blocking and temperature regulation.
  • Slatted Roman Shades: Achieve superior functionality with slatted roman shades, where each fold features a pocket designed to accommodate a wooden slat. This addition adds sturdiness and weight, allowing for complete light control and customizable privacy.
  • Soft Fold Roman Shades: Blinds Couture's favorite, these shades effortlessly balance elegance and functionality. Soft fold roman shades diffuse light and enhance privacy, creating an ambiance of comfort and sophistication.
  • Relaxed Roman Shades: Experience the light and airy charm of relaxed roman shades. Their thin fabric allows ample natural light to filter through, while also providing temperature and privacy control.

Let’s Talk Layers!

Roman shades are popular as standalone or layered with cornices, drapes, or roller shades. When layered with drapes, try using a pattern for one and a complementary solid color for the other. Or layer tone on tone in solids for timeless, understated elegance. Romans can be fabricated with blackout materials for complete light control.

Layer a cornice over a roman shade for a classic look. When layered with a roller shade, try a relaxed roman in a print over a solid roller shade in a complementary color. The roller can be blackout for a complete light-blocking window treatment. You may also try a blackout roman over a sheer roller shade.

Romans are 10% off at Blinds Couture through September 30, 2023. Take full advantage of Blinds Couture’s in-house fabrication studio offering the greatest versatility and always-on-time production for interior designers and homeowners. In late 2022, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission announced it that, for reasons of safety, corded window coverings could longer be manufactured in the United States, beginning in June 2024. The window coverings industry and consumer demand has been slowly progressing in this direction since the early 2000s, with the advent of cordless blinds, motorized window coverings and smart home technology. With the 2022 announcement, this necessity for progress has dramatically accelerated, and manufacturers are sprinting to catch up.

We worked with interior designer Emily Tucker to choose drapery fabrics, liners and hardware options, then custom fabricated roman shades and drapes to match her designs before installing the window coverings to perfection. These included blackout roman shades in a guest bedroom and ivory drapes.
