Four Happy Smart Business Women Work

Celebrating Women | Blinds Couture

Honoring Leadership, Ingenuity, and Diversity

The month of March is Women’s History Month. Yesterday, we celebrated International Women’s Day as a women-owned business. Both events open a window to the world of diverse experiences and accomplishments of powerful women throughout history. By honoring and sharing women’s stories of strength through leadership, and supporting their ingenuity, we are inspired to continue growing and embracing diversity and equality in our community.

Our founder, Jessica Work, has a long history of seeking out the strengths she sees in women entrepreneurs, and strives to celebrate women-owned businesses. She has a reputation of inviting women in business to sit at the table alongside each other in an atmosphere of support around best business practices and promotion.

This passion radiates through our design team to our customers. As a client, you may have noticed Jessica and her team always have an extensive referral list of the best in the business. If you need something done in your home, chances are, our team has the perfect referral for you. Many of these are women-owned businesses, and that makes a difference.

— Support Women-Owned Businesses —

Inviting Women to the Table

Here are three ways you can support women-owned businesses and can continue to help welcome more women to the table to radiate the light on diverse entrepreneurship and equality:

  • Seek out
and shop women-owned businesses, then tell people about it - Leave reviews on business pages and social media. Take time to share your favorite businesses with family and friends. Word-of-mouth referrals are still the most sought after badges of success for both the business and the peace of mind of the customer.
  • Share, and share some more! Many businesses are sharing tricks of the trade on social media pages, blogs, and newsletters for free because they value their customers and are passionate about their business. Tell them in a public comment or direct message. They care that they are making a difference. It means everything to know what they do matters. Then share that knowledge with others. Spreading knowledge and sharing one’s passion is infectious, and is such a great way to connect communities.
  • Learn about past and present women in business, and then share their stories - Hearing multiple stories will ultimately lead to wanting to share conversations about what challenges and empowers women in business. Consider what you can do to make a difference for the future. It can be as simple as supporting local women-owned businesses, to finding time for having important conversations about equality and diversity, or as inspiring as mentoring a future business leader.

In late 2022, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission announced it that, for reasons of safety, corded window coverings could longer be manufactured in the United States, beginning in June 2024. The window coverings industry and consumer demand has been slowly progressing in this direction since the early 2000s, with the advent of cordless blinds, motorized window coverings and smart home technology. With the 2022 announcement, this necessity for progress has dramatically accelerated, and manufacturers are sprinting to catch up.
